Director - The Komagata Maru Incident

Tramshed is running a series of events this summer as a part of the Union Festival in Greenwich Borough. One of the strands is a rehearsed reading of the play "The Komagata Maru Incident" with a community cast during Refugee Week.

We are seeking a Director  who will have ideally have care and access at the core of your practise, experience and understanding of how to engage with diverse groups of people. 

  • Dates: Performance dates 20th and 21st of June – Rehearsal dates w/c 10th June 
  • Fee: £750 (5 days work maximum including planning, rehearsals, performance attendance, and evaluation) 

Please send your CV and a cover letter, no longer than one page, detailing your experience and interest in the role to joe@tramshed.org. We will also accept recorded applications (Video / Audio) no longer than 5 minutes.  Refer to our Job Description to tell us how you meet the criteria and please do feel free to include paid, voluntary and transferable skills relevant to creating accessible arts experiences.

Community Cast - The Komagata Maru Incident  

We are looking for a diverse cast of community members to take part in a rehearsed reading of a riveting wartime play, 'The Komagata Maru Incident' by Sharon Pollock.  

This FREE programme will take place in June 2024 as part of Tramshed’s Union Festival, A free celebration of Refugees & Migrants living in the Borough, presented in partnership with Greenwich Inclusion Project (GrIP) 

What are we looking for? 
Individuals (18+) who are members of Greenwich borough. 
Individuals with, or without, refugee status (Although those who do are encouraged!) 
Individuals who are keen to perform – with OR without experience! 
Individuals who can commit to two evening rehearsals and two evening performances.

Volunteers

As part of this transformative year, we are looking for people to join us as volunteers. This will help us bring fun and creativity to everyone in Greenwich and give back to the local community. We are looking for people who are interested in the arts, their local community, or those who want to learn something new!

We have a lot of events and different opportunities to get involved with, and at Tramshed there is a place for everyone. The ideal person will be someone who enjoys being a part of a team, helping others, and meeting new people.

We are looking to create a pool of volunteers from across our borough so that people can stay up to date with all of Tramshed's activities and get as involved as they like. We have events near you in locations such as Kidbrooke, Charlton and Blackheath, so you never have to travel far and you can join us for multiple events around the borough, the choice is completely up to you.
