An 8 week radical cabaret course
Carnesky’s Radical Cabaret School 8-week Online Course & Showcase with Tramshed
What is cabaret today and when and how is it radical? How do you make your own cabaret persona and harness new ideas?
Olivier-award-winning performer, theatre maker and teacher Dr Marisa Carnesky will guide you to create your act using different techniques, whilst engaging with contemporary issues over 9 weeks.
Age group 17+ (no upper age limit)
If you are 17-25, it is FREE
If you are 25+, it is £50 Waged and £25 Unwaged
(Limited number of bursary places available for those in need, please indicate on application if required)
The course will take place over Zoom. We would recommend using a laptop but desktop computers, phones and tablets are possible. You will also need a quiet private space where you can move.
Dates & Times:
Session 1 - Thurs 11th March, 7–9pm
Session 2 - Thurs 18th March - 7–9pm
Session 3 - Thurs 25th March - 7–9pm
Session 4 - Thurs 1st April- 7–9pm
Session 5 - Thurs 8th April- 7–9pm
No session on Thurs 15th April - Independent task
Session 6 - Thurs 22nd April- 7–9pm
Session 7 - Thurs 29th April- 7–9pm
Session 8 - Thurs 6th May - 7–9pm
Tech / Dress TBC.
Showcase (Online and/or live) Sat 8th May - 7–9pm

Carnesky’s Radical Cabaret School is created in partnership between Carnesky Productions and the Tramshed's Progression programme of artist development.
Carnesky Productions was founded by Olivier award-winning Dr Marisa Carnesky in 2004 and is a performance and theatre company responsible for original large and small scale interactive performance works (Carnesky’s Ghost Train, Carnesky’s Incredible Bleeding Woman). Having led workshops and taught performance for over twenty years, the company also runs Carnesky’s Radical Cabaret School (formally Carnesky’s Finishing School) to support emerging performers.
