Charged: Kids In Focus Showcase @ Tramshed

Sun 4th July 2021 - Sun 4th July 2021

4th July @ Tramshed

When you mix:

~ 2 Companies!
~ 2 twenty five-minute performance extracts
~ 1 community venue that supports emerging artists

You get 2 brand new children’s shows in the making!

Once upon a time back in November 2020, 2 companies took part in our scratch event Generator: Kids in Focus with works in progress and presented 10 minutes of these shows on Zoom. We absolutely loved what we saw! So we invited them for a residency early this year to develop their pieces further. We gave them money, digital space and mentorship, they shared their work with children who attend our youth theatre programme. All this was again on Zoom.

But now they are back to present 25 minutes of their shows, this time in person in our pop-up theatre in Woolwich!

We want you to come along and watch the shows, meet the characters and the artists and help them shape their work!

The following acts will be taking part -

Exploding Emily by Unblurred Lines

Emily is new in town. New school, new freedom, new life… New everything. And in a world where everything is different, will Emily stay the same?

Unblurred Lines is a theatre project which aims to combat sexual violence. They create dedicated time and space in the lives of children and young people for them to discuss, and better understand, their rights and responsibilities in relationships of all kinds. They do this by delivering educational, fun, theatre-based workshops and projects, led by highly trained practitioners. Exploding Emily is their first show.

The Loudest Mind by Laura Shoebottom

The Loudest Mind explores the pressures placed on children to “fit in”, the joy of creativity and imagination, and the idea that you don’t have to shout to be heard.

Laura Shoebottom is a published playwright and poet; originally from Leeds, with over ten years of experience writing for live and recorded media. Laura grew up in Devon and trained at Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, where she completed both the Foundation and BA (Hons) Acting courses.

Charged Kids in Focus is part of our Artist Development Programme Progression, which is all about supporting emerging artists to make work.

This is a socially distanced Indoor Show and we have limited capacity, so book now!
