Dr Carnesky’s Radical Cabaret School LIVE Showcase

Dr Carnesky’s Radical Cabaret School LIVE Showcase

Sat 22nd May 2021 - Sat 22nd May 2021

You are invited to witness the results of a radical experiment in performance creation.

For eight weeks under the shadow of a Covid world, every Thursday a group of very committed young artists with radical visions met and worked through a series of lectures and exercises with seasoned radical showwoman Dr Marisa Carnesky. Both activist and transformational the work is bold and fearless made both collectively and individually in living rooms, bedrooms and online.

Bursting out of the screen and NOW LIVE! into the outdoor splendour of the Garrison Church, see mind blowing results of completely original work and ideas, witness the making of new work coming out from under the shadow of Covid.

Dr Carnesky’s Radical Cabaret School was funded by Arts Council England and produced in partnership with the Tramshed Progression programme of artist development to create accessible and manageable arts training and community for artists in these difficult times.

Joining us as a special guest will be Carnesky School graduate of 2010 MisSa - iconic variety star, international recognised sword swallower, singer, poet and exhibited artist. Voted most influential Burlesque performer in Europe 2018 MisSa currently focusses on spoken word and singing framed into experimental theatre. She has developed an active voice globally supporting black performance art and creating community within the international black queer arts scene.

She will be performing excerpts of her current touring solo show “Black Sheep”
