STRINGS

STRINGS

An interactive dance performance on isolation and apathy where the audience can decide how the dancer moves.

STRINGS is a live-streamed and interactive performance.

The dancer is found in her living room after several weeks of self-isolation, losing connection with the outside world, fighting against anxiety and apathy, and contemplating the self. She will rely on the audience interaction to help her live through movement again and reconnect with others.

Using the interactive system, the audience is able to watch the performance in live-stream while collectively deciding how the dancer should move from their phone. Each instruction act as invisible strings to (re)animate a living and dancing body.

Directed and performed by Clemence Debaig. Created in collaboration with Ed Boucher, Christina Karpodini, Chloe Bellou, Kristia Morabito and Marcello Licitra.

Clemence Debaig is a dancer, designer and creative technologist. Her work is situated at the intersection of dance and technology. She creates work for galleries, the stage, and more unconventional sites, in the form of interactive installations, audio-visual experiences and performances. Her recent work focuses on exploring notions of control, harassment and apathy. In light of the recent events, her research is evolving into exploring collaboration, communal experience and liveness in digital performances.
